Stop Criminalizing Mental Illness

The criminalization of mental illness has to be addressed continually and assertively. A 20-year-old study by NAMI revealed that 1 in 5 incarcerated people suffered from a severe mental illness. Today, that number has doubled. Most are held for non-violent, minor symptoms related to untreated symptoms of their illness. April is 2nd chance month: it's time to end the stigmas and discrimination. Let's focus on programs that work, and creating spaces for people who are recovering in our communities and workplaces. #stopthestigma #mentalillness #clubhouseworks
